Refresh Your Tired, Worn-Out Patio Umbrella On the Cheap

Refresh Your Tired, Worn-Out Patio Umbrella On the Cheap

If the years have taken their toll on your patio umbrella, there's no need to splash out on a new one. Bigger Than the Three of Us shows us how to breathe new life into a tired parasol and give it a fancy, expensive look.

The trio took an old, cheap umbrella from Target that didn't take too well to over-winter storage and transformed it into a fancy, designer-lookalike patio umbrella without much effort. For around $20, the makeover is dramatic, and better yet, it's simple to do. You'll need some latex paint and a roller—although you may find a spray gun is quicker and easier—to apply a base paint.

You can then go to town with whatever design takes your fancy. Ashley and Luke used a combination of stencils and painting-by-eye to get the perfect look, and finished off with a decorative pompom trim.
