Assign Two Colors to Gym Clothes to Keep Stinky Gear Separate

Assign Two Colors to Gym Clothes to Keep Stinky Gear Separate

Workout clothes stink. Literally. It helps to know how to clean them properly, but it's also a good idea to assign one or two colors from your wardrobe exclusively for gym wear and nothing else. You'll always know which clothes to keep separate.

As Jezebel explains in their reeky gym clothes guide, that funky smell can persist even after a wash. It could be due to the material, such as spandex or lycra. It could also happen because the water can't penetrate the fabric due to a build-up of body oil, detergent or fabric softener in the clothes over a long period of usage. Whatever the reason, you don't want to accidentally wear a shirt and go out, only to realise that you're stinking.

Our simple solution is to choose a couple of colors that are exclusively meant for workout clothes. Shirts, socks, towels, underwear—stick with one or two colors and you instantly know what to wear to the gym and what to wear anywhere else, without risk of an attack on anyone's olfactory senses.

The color choice is up to you, but it makes sense to go for something that isn't one of your favorites—save that for places where your appearance matters. You probably want to avoid white as one of those colors though, so you can save yourself a separate wash cycle.
