Set Dock Magnification to a Keyboard Shortcut in OS X

Magnifying the icons in your Dock on mouseover is great, but you might not want to have the feature on all the time. How-To Geek points out that you can set it up so you only trigger the magnification with a keystroke.

Once you get this set up, your Dock won't have any magnification at all unless you tap a keyboard shortcut when you're mousing over the Dock. This is great when you want to keep a jam-packed Dock but don't need magnification on all the time. Here's how to set it up:

1. Head into System Preferences and select "Dock"
2. Set your Magnification to whatever size you want
3. Uncheck the box next to Magnification

Now, simply tap CTRL+Shift on your keyboard, mouse over your Dock, and you see your icons magnified. Without the shortcut, they stay the same size.
