Build Your Own Hanging Bike Storage for 1/4 the Price

Storing bikes inside is tough, especially when you have more than 2 or 3. This DIY solution will store up to six bikes against the wall, and still provide easy access without breaking the bank.

The Velo Grip bike rack is a popular bike storage product, but it costs $250-$300. The bike enthusiast shown in the video has made a replica of the Velo Grip for around $60 in parts. His version works on the same principle as the Velop Grip, which has hooks or straps that attach to the front wheel but can pivot which allow your bikes to turn closer to the wall.

You'll need a 6 foot piece of iron pipe, 3-5 husky hang straps, s-hooks, o-rings, carabiners, and 2-3 heavy duty shelf supports.

You can complete this project in an hour and have your bikes stored up off the ground and out of your way. Tune into the video below or complete assembly instructions as well as a tutorial for building a PVC stand-alone bike rack.
