Chrome: If you spend too much time on certain sites, there are plenty of ways to block them. But why not take that productivity tip up a notch? Instead of simply blocking a site, use that time to catch up on your reading list. Page Forwarder helps you do just that.
Most of us have a list of sites we've been meaning to check out, articles we've been meaning to read, or videos we've been meaning to watch. You can save all of these URLs to Page Forwarder. Next time you navigate to a distracting site, the extension will redirect you to one of the items on your reading list. When you're done reading, you can delete the URL.
The extension is kind of like the previously mentioned TimeWarp, but the biggest difference is the setup. TimeWarp focuses on redirecting you; Page Forwarder seems more focused on your reading list. There are two steps. First, add the sites or pages you want to block. Then, add the sites or pages you want to read. Next time you browse to a page on your block list, you'll be redirected to a page on your reading list.
More conveniently, there's a bookmark option in the URL box so you can easily add any pages you come across. And once you've read the page, you can use the bookmark to remove it from the list. Once all of your pages are read, you won't be redirected anymore. You're allowed to visit the sites on your blocked list until you add more pages to show content.
If you want to spend less time on certain sites, and catch up on other pages, this is a simple way to do it. There's no scheduling feature, so if you want to turn it on or off, you'll have to go into the extension and remove any blocked sites you want access to at certain times.
